So much to eat . . . so little time!

Two of my favorite fall dishes are waiting for me to prepare them! Every Thanksgiving, my grandmother would have turnip soup and grated sweet potato pudding. We'd work on the farm all morning and coming in for a wonderful lunch of soup with our turkey dinner coming later that evening. I wasn't till years later I was told that turnip soup was what folks ate when they had little else - but for me it was a delicacy I waited all year for. As soon as I get time - I'm gonna make some: chicken broth, turnip puree, tomato and a bit of onion. I'll tell you about the grated sweet potato later this month!

Both markets are still going strong! In Lincolnton, Loyd Lewis has a lettuce window box you've got to see. Grow your own lettuce (4 varieties) thru the winter!
